HISTORY
How Did Our Story Begin?
Nudism in Croatia began in 1936 after the English heir to the throne, Edward VIII. summers on Rab. In Kandarola Bay, Edward enjoyed a refreshing nude swim with his love, Wallis Simpson. Their visit was the beginning of something big – the birth of the tradition of nudism on Rab. At that time, nudism as a movement advanced intensively in Germany, and the natural beauty of the island of Rab provided an ideal backdrop for the development of this lifestyle. Naturists quickly recognized Kandarola as their pearl, a place where they could enjoy freedom without clothes and connect with nature.
In 1996, Josip Jurešić – Kačka took over the care of this special beach. By purchasing a restaurant on the beach, he begins to actively invest in landscaping and preserving the beauty of Kandarola. Since then, the Jurešić family has been providing shelter to nudists, those who are already experienced, but also those who are just starting to practice this lifestyle. Their dedication to cleanliness, safety and preservation of tradition has ensured that Kandarola remains an oasis of peace and freedom for all lovers of nudism.
This story about naturist beach Kandarola on the island of Rab testifies to a long history and dedication to promoting nudism as a way of life in harmony with nature.
